The inspiration moves through the musical worlds explored throughout this collection: Ahmad Jamal’s spacious jazz piano, Cortex’s dreamy French jazz-funk, Walt Barr’s warm fusion, Alain Goraguer’s psychedelic soundtrack atmosphere, and Ennio Morricone’s cinematic tension.

These are original progressions created around those influences. They give you a musical starting point with room for your own drums, basslines, melodies, and sampling decisions.

From a Beautiful Chord to Your Next Sample Flip

Start with a mellow Rhodes loop. Chop the acoustic piano version into fragments. Reverse a chord, pitch the whole phrase down, or rearrange the MIDI into something unexpected.

The audio features varied dynamics, gentle timing differences, tape-style warmth, and light stereo effects. Slow-moving half and whole notes give the chords space to breathe—and give you plenty of material to slice.

The included Scaler 3 presets contain each progression as both a chord set and a timed arrangement, retaining the source MIDI voicings, velocities, and note lengths.

Explore the harmony, change the sound, and develop your own variations. Scaler 3 presets are for Scaler 3; use the separate MPC files and WAV loops in your MPC workflow.

The WAV files can also be used in hardware and software samplers that accept 24-bit / 44.1 kHz stereo WAV. The Standard MIDI files work with compatible DAWs and instruments that support MIDI import.
